Ashley H. Underwood, a licensed Independent clinical social worker has been in the mental health profession for over 25 years. She received a BA in Psychology with a minor in Human Development and Family Studies in 1999 and a Master of Social Work degree in 2002 both from The University of Alabama. Additional extensive training in Cognitive Behavioral therapy was completed in 2016. 

Her professional work includes social work education, mental health therapy for school age children with behavioral issues, psychotherapy and education with teen to elder adult patients hospitalized for psychiatric concerns and a host of other mental illnesses. She began her career in parenting education working with the entire family. Her specialties include family issues, relational conflict, depression, anxiety, women issues, stress and anger management, work place issues,  grief recovery and daily life stressors for children age six through elder adulthood. 

In October 2019 she became a Certified Grief Recovery Specialist through the Grief Recovery Method Institute, an evidenced based grief recovery program. Ashley is the mother of one teenage son. In her free time she enjoys living a healthy lifestyle, decorating, traveling, shopping, trying new restaurants and enjoying family and friends.
